Introduction to the FAMILY Ministry




MINISTRY FOCUS

1.

To provide Family Education via support groups, guest speakers, publications.
2.

To conduct Courses pertaining to strengthening couple relationships – pre-marital; marital; parental.
3.

To organise special events to enhance couple relationships – Candlelight dinners; Marriage Enrichment Camps.
4.

To collaborate with our church and other relevant organisations to run programs that will achieve our church vision “Building A Godly Family”.


GENERAL INFORMATION

COURSES:

A) Pre-marital Course – ‘Hearts and Minds’ Target Groups:

1.

Couples in courtship
2.

Couples preparing for marriage

Objectives    :

1.

Impart knowledge and skills about love relationships
2.

Enable couples to discover and understand about oneself as well as partner
3.
Develop and build couple relationship
4,

Prepare couples at least for the first year of marriage.
5,

Encourage and establish network amongst couples for continuous support


Approach    :

1.

Interactive - via games, couple discussions, voluntary sharing, role-play, getaways.
2.

Formal – teaching by trainers; notes
3.

Hands-on – use of professional Assessment Tools for specific personality and relationship inventory (PREPARE/ENRICH, MBTI, TJTA), followed by a free analysis by licensed trainer.

 


B) Marriage Enrichment Retreat (MER)
In collaboration with the Chinese Family For Christ International (CFFCI), we have adopted an interesting Marriage Enrichment program.
Target Group: Married Couples, irregardless of age

Objectives    :

1.
Rekindle the couples’ mutual love and enrich the marriage.
2.

Couples to learn new as well as refresh and relearn relationship- building skills.
3.

Couples to rest and relax so as to be energized physically, emotionally, socially  and spiritually.
4.

To establish network amongst couples for continuous support.


Overview of MER:
It is a 3-day-2-night retreat, complete with meals (inclusive of a romantic candlelight dinner) and interactive workshops.
After the camp, there will be 12 follow-up group meetings.
Program is highly enjoyed and acclaimed by those who attended.
Members’ Involvement/Participation:

A)

Marriage Mentor
In our effort to build strong marriages, we need married couples in the church to avail themselves to mentor couples in courtship, by guiding them.
B)

Purchase of ‘Marriage Enrichment Camp’ Vouchers
You can be an active part of the Family Ministry by being a blessing to another couple. Buy and give a married couple MER vouchers which can be used to pay for the MER fees.
You not only help to subsidize for their retreat, you actually bless their marriage!

 


Vouchers are sold in denominations of $10, $20 or $50 per piece.
